Military Camps

As teens in high school look forward to graduation, they’re encouraged to think about their futures. Some may be considering service in the military. Maybe they’ve even joined their school’s JROTC program. Even if they’re not specifically thinking of military service, they might be looking for opportunities to challenge themselves, learn discipline, and build character. For all of these kids and more, military summer camps can be a great option.

The Benefits of Military Camp

There are a number of summer programs sponsored by military academies across the country. Most of them tend to be residential camps, since staying overnight is the best way to give kids the full experience. They largely cater to junior high and high school students, though some have programs for children as young as six. There are separate military summer camps for boys and girls, but many are coed as well.

Different military camps have different focuses. Some have programs to foster leadership skills. Others have academic programs for kids who are struggling, to help them build better work habits and study skills and get back on the right track with a stronger sense of discipline. Others feature challenging athletic programs that offer everything from swimming to rock climbing, and there are also military adventure camps that put armed services training to the test on long outdoor excursions.

No matter the focus, there’s one thing all military camps have in common: the goal of instilling campers with a sense of honor and respect, both for themselves and for those around them.

Search for Military Camps

The CampPage directory can help you find military summer camps all over the country. Find your area on the map to see which military camps are closest to you, then browse the selection for camps that will be best suited to your child’s needs and goals.

Military camps challenge their campers to become better versions of themselves, push themselves to the limit, and find out what they’re really capable of. The experience can be great preparation for a future of actual military service, but it’s also great preparation for school and for life in general.
